Put You On: Bringing Black Voices to the Forefront

The power of word-of-mouth in the Black community is real. Freeform's multi-platform social media campaign, Put You On, is harnessing this power to bring you the best of Black talent across the internet! This campaign features Black Freeform talent, fans, and influencers as they champion emerging Black voices, creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs who are making their mark. Whether you're looking for emerging artists to add to your library or you're seeking inspiration from activists who are disrupting the status quo, this is the place to be! Keep checking back here for more dynamic video content, spotlight profile features, music playlists, and more as they launch.

The music industry is fertile ground for emerging Black voices, so we have created a Spotify playlist featuring some of the best up-and-coming artists across genres. From Shea Diamond, Rayana Jay and Austin Millz to Davie, Alex Mali and Jordan Hawkins, there is plenty more Black talent included to listen to again, and again, and again!

From the grown-ish family, over on Instagram, Chloe Bailey gave us a sneak peek at some of the amazing Black musicians she can't stop listening to. Go ahead and add FKA twigs, James Fauntleroy and all of the other artists featured in Chloe's recommendations to your playlist.

Freeform is proud to showcase incredible Black talent in our original series, and they have been sharing their own Put You On recommendations with us. grown-ish star Yara Shahidi took to Instagram to shout out some of the disruptors she believes are really changing the landscape for Black people, such as Iddris Sandu, a digital architect bringing much needed innovation to the tech world, and Sage Adams, a creative force who also promotes the work of queer artists of color and other marginalized people.

Valentine's Day might be behind us, but every day is a great day to show some love to that special someone in your life and support Black-owned businesses while you're doing it. Why not indulge in Chris Collins Fragrances, or try Vanessa Miller, if you're after beautiful jewelry? Head on over to Instagram for these and more recommendations.

Don't forget to keep checking back here for more Put You On recommendations of Black voices, creators and innovators. Use the hashtag #PutYouOn to find out more or share your own!
